What's the point?

"We want you to grow up and become independent," we said.

"What's the point?" our son asks. "Fulfillment?"

"There is such a thing." I affirm.
_______________

I'm going to paint again tomorrow, to see how many shades of green I can discover.

Why is this fulfilling? Why do I drink in all I can with my eyes? Why do I want to put it on paper for others to see?

"For the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof." says my Creator. I want to share this truth.

Painting out now

Another dream come true: painting out twice a week, and not always with the Hudson or Medina group. Melissa and I have decided to paint the Cuyahoga Valley and whatever else lies between us that appeals to our brushes this summer. On May 26 I got to Brandywine Creek 45 min. late, but it was worth persevering to find the place. Not my best painting... so much to look at... so hard to focus. And the light did change from 2-5 p.m. It just kept getting better and better, so I kept adding shadows.

Last Saturday was even less of a masterpiece for me. We did a pond, and it was too much for my system. Too much heat and light from 11-1:00 facing south in 87° shade. Every wash dried. Everything got glazed and reglazed with aureolin, until I had yellow-green soup. That was my impact study. The second was a bit more tame, and very unfinished because M had finished her first and I was no less overwhelmed. She did a great job, though.
